There are four broad ICELT requirements that teachers have to meet:
- Planning and delivering a cycle of teaching practice, with some classes assessed for developmental purposes and others as part of required summative assessment;
- Submitting four written language tasks in which teachers analyze and develop their use of language for professional purposes;
- Submitting four reflection essays, i.e. methodology assignments, focused on their own classroom practice;
- Completing eight peer observation tasks by observing experienced colleagues.
All course work is woven around the two modules mentioned earlier and each participant builds up a portfolio of her/his work over the duration of the course. The content is internally assessed using ICELT criteria and all coursework is submitted for external review by a Cambridge appointed moderator to ensure that quality standards are adhered to for all aspects of the course.
